Plenty has been said and written about Dexys Midnight Runners. But this may be the book they've been waiting for. Nige Tassell who is amicable and amiable is exactly the person to chronicle a band of intense driven and not entirely sane musicians who made up the various incarnations of Dexys. The encounter with Kevin Rowland waits until last.
We start with Kevin 'Al' Archer who was Rowlands Number Two. Archer turns down the invitation to speak to Tassell and its no surprise.to him. Archer's history with Rowland is tangled and embittered to a degree. He sparked the idea that Rowland took and ran wuth for the band's second album Too Rye Aye Folk and Fiddles. Rowland in time acknowledeged it and fed Archer a share in the royalties. But it's not hard to imagine the resntment festers.
