There are Nine Commandments of Love. At least according to Al Green's Call Me. One of the sheep got lost on the way back to the pen. But it'll do. You don't notice any shortfall.
Looking at the records I bought in my teenage years they seem increasingly like realisations. I bought Call Me at some point in my first year at university in realisation that white, literat guitar bands did not tell the whole story. Al Green was one of the names you knew you had to become familiar with.
I bought a Greatest Hits shortly afterwards and bonded over it with my girfriend. As for t he studio albums frankly you could get pretty much any of them. The consistency, the quality is pretty remarkable. The studio sound. The production values. Th tap, tap, tap of the drumwork. Like a beating heart .The loving quality of it all. Turn it over. Play it again.
