Covers # 131 The Hinds

Well this has certainly made my day. The Hinds have a lot going on for them anyway. Already a fine album under the beltthis year  and plenty of wonderful records over the past few years too. Now they've come out with what surely is destined to be cover of the year here on It Starts With a Birthstone.

It's an abolutely priceless take on one of The Clash's most glorious moments Spanish Bombs. The Hinds have been playing it live for at least a couple of years now, (see below), but the studio version seems to have just come online in the last few days.

Possibly more bouncy castle than Spanish Civil War, though The Hinds have the upper hand on The Clash in that they are actually Spanish. With cries of Top of the Pops!'  and 'Ole!' to top and tail the track. It's an absolute breeze from start to finish.

I'm not quite sure how serious they are. This is serious subject matter after all. But the panache and bravado of this is a joy to behold regardless of whether they actually care who Federico Lorca is. I absolutely love it!
