Song(s) of the Day # 753 Vinegar Joe

Vinegar Joe, best known as the band where Elkie Brooks and Robert Palmer first made their names, put out three albums on Island Records in the early seventies. These come from the third of those, Six Star General, which had its moments, notably first song, a deeply early seventies and Stones indebted single, Proud To Be (a Honky Woman), which sounds like a should have been hit to me. Also second track, Food For Thought.

Elsewhere, the album dips, there's some ill-advised experimentation with vocoder technology and rather aimless general rocking, but I'll post a third track, first song, second side, Black Smoke Rising From the Calumet.
