30 Days of Songs Dean Wareham Covered # 1 New Order

One of Wareham's greatest and most distinctive contributions to music has been as a kind of Rock & Roll librarian. Curator for many of its finest moments. With Galaxie 500, Luna, Dean & Britta and on his own, he's probably been responsible for more fine, recorded cover versions than anybody else in rock history. Thirty days is a doddle! Mostly I'll just post the originals but occasionally the Wareham fronted covers too.

We'll start with this. He's a particular fan of early New Order and he's right to be. They were a fascinating band during their journey from Joy Division to finding their own distinct sensibility. Here's Ceremony.
