Buffy Saint Marie is at her best in my book when she lets rip vocally and emotionally. Never the most restrained performer, but she's truly fearsome when she truly cuts loose, as on the first track posted here which rattles along as if she's being backed by Buffalo Springfield, from what is generally considered her masterpiece, 1969's Illuminations and the second, (where she does hold something back), from 1967's album of the same name.
