Song(s) of the Day # 1,048 Catavento

Now I might actually be ahead of the curve on this one. Catavento, a Brazilian band, have little written about them on the Internet except in Portuguese. They're on Honey Bomb Records which is worthy of exploration for similar discoveries on an evidently thriving Brazilian alternative record scene.

Catavento's 2016 album Cha, (their second), is just brimming with ideas, occasionally actually too many for its own good. Drawing on psychedelic inspirations of all sorts and singing in muffled English and Portuguese, it doesn't necessarily sound Brazilian but certainly sounds 'far out' a defining characteristic of the best music from that country down the years. They're currently appearing with compatriots Boogarins who have made inroads to other territories over the last couple of years. Perhaps Catavento are next.
