Song of the Day # 87 Kate Le Bon

I think the surname put me off for far too long. Just a beautiful video from the cutting of the bread, the potter's wheel, the overflowing ashtrays, the kids towards the end, the swirly effects. Real love in here. And the song too of course. Her new album Mug Museum seems pretty essential.

  1. Love Mug Museum. Haven't been able to track down Cyrk on CD yet, but I'm working on it. There's something Velvets-y about her, I think. A friendlier sounding Nico, combined with the Welsh accent that recalls John Cale. Maybe.

  2. Very Velvets-y. I only started listening to her a few days ago. Ridiculously as I said her sharing her surname with Simon made me resist. I agree with all your points re: Nico & John Cale too.. There's also something of Kate Bush there too I think yet somehow it's still all very fresh. She's coming to Newcastle this Autumn. I'll definitely be there.
