1984 Singles # 30 The Fall

I have stated my position on The Fall many times. Most often it seems over the last twenty four months. I like them and several of their singles and albums. I find their position in the whole scheme of things slightly overstated. I think Mark E. Smith or certainly the later Mark E. Smith is a rather repellent figure. I think the reasons I might dislike him are plain and feel he is given more licence than others who behave in a similar way over the course of several decades. Not saying the guy's not a major talent but still I'd say a lot of stuff is glossed over that maybe shouldn't be. I find other characters who featured in The Fall's story more interesting. Particularly Martin Bramah and Marc Riley.

C.R.E.E.P is one of any number of fine singles they produced over this period. It's just excellent. It reached ninety one -ah! John Peel played it quite a bit I recall.
