Melbourne's Shifters, (fancy, a good new band from Melbourne !), cook from familiar ingredients. You can hear early Fall, Clean, Teardrops and Go-Betweens, Terry, Goon Sax and so on and so forth bubbling away in the mix. Their's is a rough and consciously unpolished sound. Here are a couple of songs from their debut album Have a Cunning Plan, released on Trouble in Mind Records last year for you to decide for yourself. While it's a bit hit or miss, when it gets it right it's quite my cup of tea.
