Hey, my new favourite artist Part blah, blah, blah.... Advance Base, essentially the one man project of Owen Ashworth, not a million miles away from Phosphorescent, it's smart, literate leftfield stuff. Aptly described on their Bandcamp page as 'depressed nostalgia obsessed lo-fi pop' , this, Dolores & Kimberley is the pick from this year's album Animal Companionship. A pocket gem, almost a classic Raymond Carver short story put to song. About a guy who moves to Indiana, leaving his previous life to start anew. It all has a sad, lived-in reality.
