Song(s) of the Day # 2,691 Heather Valley

Sometimes it's the simple pleasures in life that you really need. Take this; Wildflower Radio from Hamilton Ontario's Heather Valley. From the start, this is no airs and no frills back to basics acoustic Folk Pop songs. Beautifully and simply sung and played, evidencing  a genuine talent who doesn't need to put airs and graces on to get her point across.

This is Laurel Canyon stuff essentially. In the words of her own site: ' an otherworld of lost love and longing, blue skies, dusty roads, grifters, lovers and ghosts.' There's something utterly unadorned and sincere about Wildflower Radio which I picked out immediately on first listen and thought, 'yes this will do for me.'

Perhaps a little short at just seven songs, I'm calling it an album anyhow. Anyway it's got more than enough to offer anyhow. Anyone who goes for Joni, Neil, and Laura, will find plenty to treasure here. Wildflower Radio, may not garner the attention it deserves, (this is a really fine record), but it'll get plenty of appreciation and attention from me over the coming months. Oh and it's opening track, If it Makes you Happy is one of the best songs I've heard this year.
