The recording alias of Sam Cantor, Minor Moon opens up new possibilities for Americana. Tethers is his and their latest record, and as good a place to start finding out about them as any.
This is warm, reflective stuff based on a traditional guitar, bass, drums set up. Cantor's voice is not exceptional or remarkable particularly but it fits just right in this context, reminding you occasionally of things that might not altogether be cool anymore.
So I heard Jackson Brown, James Taylor, The Eagles even, but sufficiently sure within its own skin that you simply stop worrying about it after a while, kick back and enjoy the record.
An evocative and textured record Tethers is a constantly rewarding and relaxing record. It make its case for itself just as well as I can. 'Take it easy' as someone said once.
