Revisiting the spirit of 1971 where the likesof James Taylor and Jim Croce were writing open and simple songs that seemed to herald a utopian new dawn. It was never really realised but that doesn't mean there was anything wrong with the songs. Jou Bourdet understands how they workand there are plenty of them on display on his debut album Meadow Rock.
There's not an inch of cynicism here. The songs are as simple and sparse as can be. It's not really all for me as I prefer ag reater degree of nuance in my music and this strikes me as the kind of record that might have gone down well in the Brady Bunch household. But I can certainly salute the album's artistry.
