Temporary Fandoms - Love - Love

This enforced lockdown has led countless thousands to embark on new journeys, pursuits and hobbies. One I've taken up myself is to join the Temporary Fandom group on Facebook. The objective behind this is for the members of this group to immerse themselves in the music of a particular group, album by album day by day and work their way through the whole catalogue, make personal assessments and share them.

I caught the tale end of the Belle & Sebastian immersion last week. Now onto Love. One of my favourite bands of all. Starting with their eponymous first. It's probably a record that doesn't always get its critical due because of the two that come next, Da Capo and their masterpiece Forever Changes. Still, it's a fabulous album.

In fact I may not have listened properly through to the record before and need to purchase it. I'ts great enough to stand on its own. I've really enjoyed getting to know the songs I didn't really know before on it: No Matter What You Do, Emotions, You I'll Be Following and Gazing for starters. The influences are clear, Byrds and Stones in particular but this is always Love too. A cracking record!
