80. Marmalade
'The cows have gone home. To put their coats on.' So many songs about rain that sound a bit like this. A favourite of Jimi's.
79. The Moving Sidewalks
Seems like a pre-cursor to Love in an Elevator. The starting point oddly for ZZ Top.
78. The Remains
A Nuggets staple.
77. Randy Alvey & the Green Fuzz
Later covered by The Cramps on Psychedelic Jungle
76. The Other Half
While The Fall had a pop at this. It might have been written for them.
75. The Clique
And while we're here, R.E.M. did a version of this. From 1969 which is slightly outside the period's remit but the song merits it.
74. The Balloon Farm
A ludicrous, opportunistic cash in on the mood of the time. Nevertheless, a great record. Mike Appel, later Springsteen's manager was in the band.
73. The Trashmen
Back to covered songs. Of course The Ramones brought this back to light. From early on in 1963.
72. The Haunted
I've put this on the blog before but it merits replaying. Canadian Garage.
71. The McCoys
One of the biggest actual hits on this chart. An American Number 1 in 1965.
