I'm not by nature a great nostalgist but sometimes as the sun sets you find yourself wanting one of life's simpler pleasures. Something on EMI. The girl next door who you lost your heart to when you were fifteen. Sweet pop songs from a blond with eyes to make you melt for. Virgin Radio in the Seventies. The way that you felt at that age and assumed you would feel like forever.
I don't know the record, but I know the feeling. I have spent most of my life trying not to be a nostalgist. To get stuck listening to the records I loved in my teens and twenties. But there is something natural about looking back when you get to a certain age. Particularly after having lost my parents. Nostalgia beckons and I long to bathe in the golden glow every now and then. I get that feeling from your 'arbitrary rumble', too. It's good to reconnect with your younger self.
ReplyDeleteMy best wishes are with you. Darren I still have my parents. Reconnecting with my younger self is definitely a priority. Nostalgia related holiday coming up. Watch this space.
