Daniel Lopatin is a Brooklin based musician who makes music that sounds like classical music if it were played by machines. His latest record is called Again and is almost an hour long.
Listening to it is a slightly disquietening experience. Hardly a relaxing one. Certainly not relaxing actually. Often completely the opposite. But we live in a world dominated by electrical noise these days, the one predicted by Kraftwerk and it's an experience to immerse yourself in it occasionally.
I didn't get bored in my hour with Again but I won't listen to it again. It had peaks and troughs though they were never quite human ones at any stage much as they tried. . It has a human voice occasionally, one of those treated with that vocoder effect we all must be deeply familiar with by now. Like I say it was interesting, but I was pleased to return to more conventional, human warmth when it was over..
