I've just spent two hours in the company of Inherent Vice, a strange, inexplicable and paranoid movie from Paul Thomas Anderson which came out three years back. It has a truly wonderful and evocative soundtrack which is worthy of a short series. To start it off, with this from Jonny Greenword, also of Radiohead, who provides the main score.
This is one of those rare occasions when I enjoyed the novel and the film equally. Strangely, I don't remember the soundtrack at all. I watched the film on a plane, and I was probably pretty deep into the free wine at the time.
ReplyDeleteHaven't read the book. Haven't done any Pynchon since university. Was chatting to Gary Budgen about him the other day. He's a big fan!
ReplyDeleteHis last couple have been far more accessible than the massive slog of V and Gravity's Rainbow. Funny too.
