Really rather lovely poppy, spiky, punky debut album from all-girl London band, The Big Moon, Love in the 4th Dimension. You get the impression most of all that they're having a great time which is what you look for first.
Undeniably, It all recalls the heyday of indie, Pixies, Breeders, Elastica, Sleeper and the like but the songs are so well crafted and brimful of energy and euphoria that it's more than mere pastiche. Everyone's entitled to their youth, even if its one that's very highly reminiscent of Camden in 1995. It wasn't as if that wasn't a scene that looked back to forge its way forward. A fine record!
