The Heart of Rock & Soul # 972 Kathy Young with the Innocents

'Granted that A Thousand Stars is exactly the kind of stuff that led to the theory that rock was squelched by wimp in the pre-Beatles sixties, granted even that Kathy and her cronies are ripping off the Rivileers, an R&B group, this remains a remarkable record simply because the pure callowness of the lead vocals has never been matched. It's entirely possible that Karen Carpenter based her entire style on what Young sings here.
