Song(s) of the Day # 4,485 Nina Winder-Lind

Nina Winder-Lind of the New Eves' latest album Wild Love has something of the uncanny, wide eyed wonder of Joanne Newsom, Bjork and Life Without Buildings records. It's self consciously bold and desirous, quite deliberate in its aspirations to Outsider status and acclaim in the way that The Slits and The Raincoats were way before it. These days there are established markets and audiences for this brand of outre exhibitionism.

But I took to the record immediately. And fell deeper as I made my way into its caress. It has the garish daring of great Lou Reed and Patti Smith records and although the influence of both is clearly apparent, the record is full of shape throwing and posing that's artful but actually quietly affective and potentially startling  It's a coiled, emotive, expressive record.
