Music is the ultimate language. Let's start with the ultimate cliche and head uphill, (hopefully) from there. Fatoumata Diawara a Malian lifeforce and clearly something of a polyglot wonder and her latest album London Ko, is a gift to feast upon.
Co- Produced by Damon Albarn who has become a hipster and man of the world over the years, which is a major surprise given that he was the most annoying pretend cockney in the world for quite a while in the Nineties. Now he's well and truly found his groove and everything he's involved in is worth listening to. Credit to the guy.
This certainly. It's one to get up and dance around your living room to, whether you can dance or not. Then sit down on your settee, recover your dignity and reflect on the more laidback tracks.
Fatoumata, beams outon the sleeve from her own sofa with imperious gracious. She has the most fabulous afro you've ever seen in your life, (not sure if it's all her her own, not that this matters). A true pearl in every respect and London Ko is a beautifully realised statement.
A thrilling fusion of African roots and European multiculturalism, its a joyous experience, though the lyrics, in Bambara, (her native language) French and English may hint at darker issues and life experiences. The overall vibe is not surprisingly endurance and positivity. Terrific stuff in short.
