Song(s) of the Day # # 2,963 Darren Hanlon

Coming home and what it feels like. Gympie, Queensland, hometown Indie Folk Pop from, Darren Hanlon, that seems to position itself somewhere between Billy Bragg and Rober Forster. Literate but unpretentious and somewhat troubled.

Accordng to this Guardian interview, latest album Life Tax has been the cause of some controversy, with people walking out of gigs.

His sixth album in all, written and recorded in incredibly trying circumstances, the record goes back beyond Bragg and Forster to touch on the spirit of Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams.

Memories and emotions. Altogether a rather wonderful record. Evocative and moving.
