Grand Rapids band Major Murphy perfectly replicates the feeling of Big Star's second album Radio City where the chord changes seem to hang in the air before they hit. What they lack in originality they more than make up for with emotional poignancy. With a debut album No.1, (note not #1 Record) , in the can from last year and an EP called Lafayette poised for February release, they're deft and promising pop practitioners.
