Australia's Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, (and yes I think they should keep the full name despite having a tendency to abbreviate the name as the year went on), released the six track French Press EP on Sub Pop at the beginning of the year and it has stayed with me until the end as a glorious example of what this kind of music can do. Literate, fluid and inventive while working within a well worn medium it was still surprising. Surprisingly great! Virtually anyone of the six songs could have had had top billing really but we'll go with the lead track.
