Song of the Day # 1,432 The Stroppies

.

There are some times when you hear a new record and are familiar with every single sound on it but that is exactly why you love it. Such is the case with me and the new, self-titled debut mini-album from early on this yearThe Stroppies a Melbourne indie-supergroup of sorts. Formed by ex-members of Twerps, Stevens, Dick Diver, Blank Statements and others. Doing the things that so many greatAustralian and New Zealand bands have been doing for almost forty years, (going back to The Clean, The Chills and The Go-Betweens and fast forwarding to Courtney and The Goon Sax), the guitars, rings and chime, the organs parp, the layered vocals intone over the top and all is well in the world for the eighteen minutes or so that it rolls.
