Song of the Day # 412 David Kilgour & the Heavy Eights

'I was listenin'. Listenin' to the rain. I was hearin', hearin' something else.'
Television - Marquee Moon

From the latest album by former leader of Flying Nun pioneers The Clean. I don't have a direct link but here it is. Starts as if it's about kicking into The Velvet Underground's Heroin but then veers off to the territory that The Byrds first mapped out round about the time that I was born and where plenty have followed ever after. The much used metaphor of rain to paint out an emotion most obviously of tears of joy or pain or wonder. A good way to start a Friday.
