I imagine most people have a detested vegetable from childhood that they still find difficult to stomach even now, merely through association. For me that vegetable is the brussel sprout. And The Fall have always been my brussel sprout of bands. Mark E. Smith's approach always seemed akin for me to being shouted at by the loudest, most aggressive person in the pub. However, as time winds on and I'm obliged to spend less time in the pub I find myself coming round. This is just brilliant. From their first album where other musicians and talents could be heard just as loudly as Smith's. Wonderful drumming, playing, lyric and delivery. Still not keen on brussel sprouts though.
