Song(s) of the Day # 3,648 Belair Lip Bombs

There are times in life where it pays to stop racing forward relentlessly. To stop fretting about what the latest hot release might be and consider what you might have missed in recent weeks and months.

Today's burning issue. Who are the latest young guitar turks off the quite remarkable Melbourne Guitar Turk Conveyor Belt. That truly is a musical phenomenon that's a wonder to behold,

Melbourne's LYGTs appear to be Belair Lip Bombs who inturns out dropped their bombs between the minarets at some point in 2023 with debut album Lush Life .

It's terrific stuff. I guess you could attach the dreadded label Post Punk, but it's probably just as much New Wave which frankly is a much more attractive proposition given how overused the former expression hs been over the last five years.

Lead singer Maisie comes on half Courtney and half Amyl from the Sniffers. The band have one wail of a time backing her up. They sound as if having fun is theor immediatem urgent priority which is always great. The record in time honoured Melbourne fashion is a beaut. Part of me wishes I was living in Melbourne.
