The Message and White Lines sounded like the future back then and frankly they still do. As an incredibly sheltered teen enjoying my innocent journey in Teddington I had no idea what was actually being talked about in these songs but was absolutely enthralled anyway. Listen to either of these records again ti find out why. They're as staggering as cultural artefacts as they ever were. They still sound as if they were issued from another planet.
