Lo Fi Hobo Bohemia from the off, Aubrey Key's Good Morning might as well shout, 'I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me!' so resolute is it in it in its Slacker insouciance.
Though you know exactly what you're getting after one track, Good Morning is very good at what it does. Evan Dando, Half Japanese, Talullah Gosh, Daniel Johnson, the kids from Juno and the other usual candidates nod away approvingly from the side of the stage.
'I don't want to grow up. There's too much contradiction.' as Tom Verlaine sang in Television's Friction in 1977's Marquee Moon. Somehow I suspect Aubrey Key might subscribe to the same way of thinking.
I can tell you very little more about him. He may be twenty two and living with his mom, as he sings on Great Grandpa. He's a musician from a small Southern town according to his Facebook page. Good Morning is more than enough for a now. It's a beautiful slice of youthful ennui that succeeds remarkably on its own terms.
