Sandra's Wedding, the greatest Rock & Roll outfit ever to come out of Goole, on the East Riding of Yorkshire. This might not be the greatest compliment ever made but hang on, there's more to them than that.
What's immediately as soon as you start listening to their latest album Pleasure Grounds is that they have the jangle. Not so much The Byrds or R.E.M. as The Railway Children, Bradford, Orange Juice, Hurrah! or The Wedding Present. So far, so good.
The next thing you notice is that the lead singer bears a remarkable resemblance to prime time Housemartins Paul Heaton. What more could fans of a certain prediliction want?
This is not an album that will startle anyone. But it will give pleasing succour to anyone whose boat is floated by the above. I'd count myself among that number.
