Father John Misty - Greatish Hits

 

I like Greatest Hits and I Like Father John Misty. He has a new record out and it's a Best Of. It's called Greatish Hits which is typical of the man. Self depreciation. Wry. Ironic. One of the great responses to life.

In many respects Misty is the exemplary modern artist. He's a tribute act largely. Sometimes he's Elton. Sometimes he's Nilsson. He also does Post Modernism. He's himself just enough that he's not quite Bjorn Again. He's funny. Talented man.

If you have a friend who likes Misty, suggest Seventies Elton and Sixties and Seventies Nilsson. Sometimes it's best to skip the middle man. But Misty is no poor sloppy seconds.
