500 Greatest Albums of the 1980s ... Ranked! # 402 The Replacements - Tim

The Replacements, regardless of how much you love them were always slightly variable in turns of their output. For many this is their go to record. For me it will always be Let It Be because it contains so many of their completely indelible stateents. You could just go with both.

  1. Yeah, there were always a few tracks on every album that I struggled with. I think Westerberg referred to them as the "dumb rockers". Think I'm with you on Let it Be, although I also have a soft spot for Hootenanny. When I was at university in York, we took a trip to Leeds as someone said The Replacements were playing a secret gig there. Needless to say, we ended up in an empty pub on our own. Did end up discovering a great C86 club night, though, so it wasn't a wasted journey. Managed to see them in 1991 eventually on what would have been one of their last tours. They were fantastic.
