Stella Donelly is someone I've been aware of for a while without actually posting about on here. Might as well do something about that. Her new album, Flood seems as good a place to start as any.
Stella is from Australia. Qu'elle suprise. Western Australia this time. Brought up in Perth, Flood is her second album. It's quirky goodness. Not a million miles away from Courtney Barnett although Stella is not so wedded to the sound of lovely sounding guitars as Courtney is.
A record that should really be listened to in whole and then played again. The kind of thing you might call Pop if insight and depth were mandatory in the charts. It's music that has a good look around it, then sits down nd reflects on what it's seen.
Full of songs that sound different from the one before. All in all an utterly charming record that highlights the value of doing your own thing. All I can do is recommend that you listen to it.
