Eleanor Friedberger day on It Starts With a Birthstone in celebration of her wonderful fourth solo album Rebound, just out. And we start where she started with The Fiery Furnaces. I loved them when they first appeared in 2002 with Gallowsbird's Bark. Saw them at the ULU. A particular sound and vision that was destined never to appeal to an enormous audience but was all the more valid and singular to those who did go for it.
