Patti Smith is an immeasurably important artist for me, as she is for countless others. She speaks as loudly as anyone I can think of about the deep psychological resonance and possibilities that life offers, the proposition that this is not all that there is, that we're psychically and romantically linked with what has come before us and we owe an ongoing but clear debt to those that will come after us. And she's still working on it, still out there creating art, paying tribute to her guiding spirits and testament to the holy purity of great art and how it informs our ongoing relationship with the universe all around us.
