Song(s) of the Day # 3,909 Tucker Zimmerman

Music can be many things . Not least ine of solace. At the advent of a new American dawn, or perhaps the rise of the last stand of a reactionary old one of crisis and rage and shaking your fist against the dying of the light, there are worse places to go than to the American Hippie Dream.

No modern American Collective represent these values and principles as shiningly as Big Thief. These days they come over as a band that would have graced the Woodstock mainstage and brought the crowds to their feet.

Their latest collaboration is with Tim Zimmerman, a veteran of over 50 years gracing the Americana Folk circuit. His latest album Dance of Love brings him into the 4AD family curcle and comes across as nothing less than a fireside hoedown and vigil.

  1. I have been meaning to check this out, Bruce. Will give it a go now... I've got albums by Dialup Ghost and Red Ribbon for you. Also, an EP by Lobby that features one of Goat Girl.

  2. That was rather good! Also, remembered that Zach from Iji played on the album and it reminded me to listen to their new album. It's worth a listen, too! He's another freak folkster, and was directly responsible for introducing me to Big Thief and Mega Bog. Liked his 2016 album so followed him on Twitter. Then found out he was playing in Mega Bog's UK tour supporting Big Thief. Hadn't heard of either, so checked them out and saw them playing above a pub in Brighton. Great stuff!
