It Starts With a Birthstone - 200 Albums for 2024 # 139 No Teeth - Decadence In Breeding

It's nice to be friends with Rock & Roll stars. Particularly if they work behind the counter at the record shop opposite your flat. That's Sam Spencer - Whitbread/ , Johnny Rotten wannabe with Newcastle's finest Magic Band impressionists No Teeth in case you're out of the loop.

They're completely teriffic. I've only seen them once for some reason. Even though they're regualrs on the Newcastle circuit. But what I saw I liked very much indeed and when I'm back in Toon again, which should be at some point in September, I'll go and see them again as soon and as regularly as I can. They put on a show. Great people watching.

Their debut album Decadence In Breeding, (pay attention Fall insomniacs), is a fabulous Pick & Mix adventure too. Sam stalks the stage of his dreams and nightmares spouting meaningless drivel or Absurdist Dadaist poetry if you prefer.

They have it both ways for over 35 minures here. The record is never dull. I need to sit down over a pint wuth Sam at some point to flesh this out a bit. It works on both levels as the best of this kind of art does. Fall, Pere Ubu, Syd Barrett, Velvet Underground. .Also Bogshed.  It's silly, it's profound it's the best way I can think of to fritter away your twenties.

All power to their pointy elbows. Oh, and I am not an Officer is one of the best songs of this year or any other. And others here run it pretty close. Can I have a tab Sam ? .
