I could have gone and see Swans play last year, I decided it might be a bit too loud for me. I'm good to my ears these days. The Burning World is a slightly glum thing. But it's melodic too. One for the Rilke reading depressive in your life. Flirts with pretension as much of this kind of music does. But 'pretension' is a relative term. There's nothing wrong with aiming to do more than I Should Be So Lucky , You can't help feeling that many of the people involved in the making of this record have taken a few drugs in their time.
