Raleigh, North Carolina is a Rock & Roll city with a rich heritage comes good again with Running From The Chase, the fine second album from Truth Club.
Not a record that will have them rolling in the aisles. It's a troubled, chin stroking album, but a really interesting one that rewards repeated play.
Reference points might be helpful here. This is Pavement without a sense of humour. Slint thirty years on from Spiderland. Recorded at Drop of Sun studios in Asheville NC, it's the sound of a band that take this stuff seriously and know exactly what they're doing.
There's variation and pace her. The tone is generally in the shade, though it is a record that does strain constantly towards the light. A companion piece to Ashville's own Wednesday, and their excellent Rat Saw God, from earlier this year.
