Song(s) of the Day # 3,491 Deadharrie

As well as doing this, I'm a teacher. That's all I've been in terms of my vocation really since I set out in the world on graduating in 1990. Currently I'm teaching an online class at 9.00 on weekdays, I get up early every morning and plan what I;m going to do with them at nine. When 9 arrives I try to do put my plan into action..

I need a soundtrack. And as so often this morning, Darren Jones, loyal supporter and follower of this blog has provided that for me. Darren listened to and liked the YOCTO record I recommended yesterday on It Starts and in return, mentioned this; Deadharrie's latest record, Names.

Deadharrie is a Florida based artist named William Harries. He has a few records under his belt. This is his latest. That's all t  ebackground information I could find here. It doesn't really matter. This is a good record and I can commend it happily to you just as Darren did to me.

It sets out its stall immediately and doesn't wander off the path in any way. A clppity clop Indie Folk momentum not unlike the kind of thing Jeff Tweedy trades in. Slightly glum, drawling laconic. Downbeat.

Names proceeds from here and never varies his delivery. It might at least attempt to do so occasionally but it's his record and he's perfectly entitled to do as he pleases. I probably won't listen to this again but I enjoyed doing so this morning. Thanks Darren. Do keep them coming. I'm lost for inspiration some mornings.

  1. Thanks, Bruce. Think I have treated it a bit like that, too. There are some great songs on there, but I'm a 10 songs in 30 mins person, more than 19 songs in an hour. Find it hard to commit for that long! But sometimes it's handy...

  2. With this one I really, really liked the first track. Then found everything that followed a similar formula. Something reminded me a lot of Jeff Tweedy.
