Susanne Sundfor - Blomi

Susanne Sundfor is someone with a reputation that goes ahead of her before you hear a single note of her sixth album Blomi. As the owner of a considerable singing voice, as a thinker and as a talent.

With a picture, presumably of Sundfor as a child, with, I assume, her father on the sleeve, from its earliest notes it's clearly a meditation on life, the universe and everything.

What I couldn't work out after several plays of the record was whether I liked it. I decided eventually that I didn't really. Sundfor has a remarkable voice and this is a record of considerable ambition and range.

But there was something glacial about its delivery, as if you were experiencing it being delivered in a vast cathedral. A recital, or a ceremony of enormous scope, that I find easier to appreciate than endure.
