I wasn't a great connoisseur of dance music at this age. That had to wait. Until I got to university and met the three right people in my corridor in my first year at university. People who had a natural and deep understanding of these things.
Still, there were some completely fabulous dance record's during these years. And Indeep's Last Night a DJ Saved My Life was close to top of the whole heap. One of the great, great songs about the joys of just listening to music and the pure epiphany it can lead to. The Velvet Underground's Rock & Roll and Madonna's Into the Groove come immediately to my mind.. Last Night a DJ Saved My Life is up there with all of them. It's worthy of Chic. As high a compliment as I can give. You had to dance to it too.
