While I've been boring myself of late, disparaging the Brixton Windmill Posr Punk scene and almost everything it ushers forth, there are still records and bands that I am drawn to.
Sorry for example. .Anywhere But Here... the North London five piece's second album is a fascinating, inventive record, a big advance on their debut and an engrossing listen.
Songs don't follow, easy predictable paths. There's no easy verse / chorus pattern for listeners to find their feet by. Instead the band follow serpentine, winding paths. Every track seems markedly different to the last and this makes for a genuinely fascinating journey.
That's a pretty odd combination of artists and it's an indication of Sorry's ambition and bravery. I was very much taken by this on first listen. There's so much going on.
Sorry are four young blokes and one young woman, Asha Lorenz, who deals with most of the vocal duties and provides them with much of their odd, quirky appeal.
I endorse this endeavor wholly. This is music that demands something of its audience but rewards that effort. Sorry are about to embark on a long British, European and American tour where I'd say they should make themselves many new friends. Dark horses.
