I wouldn't be telling the story of 1982 without mentioning Wham!, Spandau Ballet and Duran Duran. I didn't really care for them at the time, or now really but they represented a shift in things from the Post Punk bands having their brief moments of pop sunshine to a more aspirational, not to say Thatcherite perspective that seized hold to a greater and greater degree over the coming years.
George Michael arrived late in the year. Wham! at least were about fun first and foremost. Youthful nights in cheap, glitzy nightclubs.
