Song(s) of the Day # 2,878 Husky Gawenda

'Better adjusted Elliott Smith' is a phrase I must have used on several occasions on this blog. It's a description that's often helpful to convey what new records sound like in that particular sub category of thoughtful, vaguely introspective singer songwriters who favour reflection, solitude and a certain, quiet stillness.

This impression has rarely been more useful that in respect of an album like this. Bedroom Ice Age, the debut album from Husky Gawenda, also the lead singer of Melbourne band Husky. It's a thoughful  melodic and finely honed record.

The influence of Elliot is immediate and clear from the off and posssibly the only consideration that detracts from even greater praise for the record. I found I was never able to shake the comparison off as long as I was listening to it. But it's afine record. Well worth a listen.
