Shannon Lay's latest album Geist is instantly a portal to a bygone age, taking you back fifty years and more to the late Sixties and early Seventies.
Staking the territory between Vashti's Just Another Diamond Day and Psych Folk of the Whicker Man soundtrack Geist becomes more impressive and entrancing the longer it plays.
Interestingly released on Sub Pop Records, a label once known for something rather different, this is a quite glorious throwback.
An ideal listen for the twighlight hours, a record that makes absolutely no concessions towards 2021 and is all the better for it.
