No Pain For Us Here, the debut album from Nashvilled based model and musical artist Elke seems to be yet another album that taps into the restless spirit of Harry Nilsson. This seems like a sound that almost deserves its own category these days, so numerous are the albums and artist that seem to take their lead from it.
Elke channels all this splendidly for her own purposes. The album has a lilting, ethereal quality that is altogether quite winning. Fruit Bats splendid The Pet Parade wins this particular prize for me this year but in terms of wistful nostalgia No Pain For Us Here and Liam Kazar's similarly oriented Due North, (coming up again later today), fall not far short.
